“And they shall be mine, says the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up mine JEWELS, and I will spare them, as a man spares his own son that serves Him.” – Malachi 3:17-18
The present precarious situation in the African nations and the world seems unending and beyond human reasoning, comprehension, wisdom, and has defiled all known human solutions. Every human effort directed towards alleviating and curtailing the global social epidemics by international organizations like the United Nations and others has been short-lived and ineffective.
This is a time when the wisdom of man or that of princes of the world have come to nothing.
With the situation of things today, the world demands new ideas, new ways of doing things, new inventions, new methods of teaching, and new methods of everything.
More importantly, the world is anxiously looking for the emergence of godly people and new leaders that will serve humanity in righteousness and truth – The Black Jewels.
From generation to generation, God had encouraged His people not to fear, for in due time He will again deliver His faithful as He did in the time of old – under Moses (Ex.14), Gideon (Judg.7:25) and the young Samuel (1Sam.3). Even now, God is making up His Jewels – faithful potential future leaders to deliver people from the present global predicaments.
God’s intention from the time of Abraham has been to call forth a people of special mission – to proclaim His praise and propagate His blessing throughout the earth.
This intention is obvious because, in every generation, God has His special and peculiar treasures by the eternal covenant He made with Abraham that through him and his seed will all the families of the earth be blessed.
This changed world requires men of anointed visions and dreams who can and will put their dreams into action. These dreamers have always been, and always will be the pattern-makers of civilization.
Never in the history of mankind and nations has there been so great opportunity for The Jewels – the peculiar people – as now exists. Mind you, one of the tricks of opportunity is that it has a shy habit of slipping in by the back door, and often it comes disguised in the form of misfortune or temporary defeat. Perhaps this is why so many people fail to recognize the opportunity.
Every perfect gift (vision and dream) is from above and comes from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. The activity of the Holy Spirit in this time dispensation is the same as of the time past. The Holy Spirit who enabled God’s chosen people to do exploits and fulfilled the Lord’s plans and purposes, visions, and dreams, in their respective generations, is still at work today. He desires to move upon His people so that they too can do impossible things this season and generation. The Lord wants to bring deliverance to His people, and He is looking for consecrated and men of vision, both youths and the old, He can empower with the Holy Spirit.
The activity of the Spirit of the Lord in the Book of Judges is a clear demonstration of the move of God in every generation. The following heroic deeds of Othniel, Gideon, Jephthah, and Samson are attributed to the workings of the Holy Spirit.
The Spirit of the Lord came upon Othniel (Judg.3:10) and enabled him to deliver the Israelites from the hand of Chusan – Rishathaim, King of Mesopotamia.
Through the personal presence of the Spirit of the Lord, Gideon (Judg.6:34) delivered God’s people from the oppression of the Midianites. The Spirit empowered this divinely appointed leader and acted through him to accomplish the Lord’s saving act on behalf of His people.
The Spirit of the Lord equipped Jephthah (Judg.11:29) with leadership skills in his military pursuits against the Ammonites. Jephthah’s victory over the Ammonites was the Lord’s act of deliverance on behalf of Israel.
The Spirit of the Lord empowered Samson to perform extraordinary deeds. He began to stir Samson (Judg.13:25). The Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him on several occasions. He tore a lion apart with his bare hands (Judg.14:6). At one time he killed thirty Philistines (Judg.14:19) and at another time he freed himself from ropes that bound his hands and killed a thousand Philistines with the jawbone of a donkey (Judg.15:14-15).
